June 25th: Kaliméra Greece!

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

Wake up was pretty leisurely this mornin, moseying out of bed around 9am9 am.

Viv and Jill made us breakfast which was a delicious combination of eggs, tomato, and bread. We got ourselves organized and checked out of the airbAirbnbnb at 10a10 amm. Since our checkout was a lot earlier than our flight to Zakynthos at 2:302:30 pmpm we decided to play it safe and head to the airport really early and thank goodness we did…

Rome to Zakynthos

At the airport, we instantly felt stressed seeing the long lines at the check-in desks, but after we checked in our bags and headed to security we had almost two hours before boarding. So, even though we got to the airport almost four hours early the hectic energy in the air and the nerves of figuring out a new country’s airport structure took up much of the time.

“ After snacking, we jumped in the ocean until we watched the sun set behind the mountains in front of us while floating in the calmest waters. "

After an easy, successful flight to Zakinthos, we were so ready to experience our last country of the trip…GREECE! We grabbed our bags and found our taxi driver who drove us to our airbnb, Gaia’s House! We can’t say enough good things about this Airbnb…beachfront access, hammocks out front, AC in each room, cats (not stray, don’t worry mom) all over the front yard… and the host was so freaking nice the entire time.

After settling into our beautiful beach house we immediately whipped up a greek salad with the fresh ingredients our host left us in the fridge. Then we jumped into the Mediterranean Sea and floated in the calm waters until the sun set behind the Argostolian mountains in front of us. After washing up, we ventured out to find dinner. Walking two mins away from our Airbnb we stumbled into Epsilon, a beautiful restaurant with one chef and one server, Anna.

Ending the night entranced by the bright stars, we were mesmerized by this night sky since in NYC you never see stars because of all the light pollution. We set out a beach blanket to star gaze, and relaxed feeling more than content. This was such a special way to end the day and set us on the best path for our stay in Zakynthos.
