After a night of thin walls and loud hostel mates, we woke up ready to take on Athens and also ease into the swing of traveling in a city again.
We started at a cute greek cafe near our hostel for breakfast where we, of course, got some devious greek coffees and set our plan for the day.
Stumbling Upon Treasures
The three of us wandered around the neighborhood our hostel was in, we found the cutest jewelry and clothing shops. The neighborhood encompassed a feeling of hominess, the streets were lined with small businesses and handmade trinkets (unlike the corporate craziness of America). The greatest find, however, was an English bookshop that had the second edition of Throne of Glass for Jill! BIG happy dance. Viv and I were super happy we stumbled upon this treasure after the three of us came to the conclusion that we’d only find the second edition back in America—a great surprise & start to our day.
After wandering around we found another adorable greek cafe and got stationed there for some reading time for Viv and Jill and some much-needed blogging catch-up for me. Post-cafe we headed back to the hostel to take a siesta and wash up for the evening.
A Night out on the Town
Making our way through the world’s best cocktail bars, we headed over to #19, The Clumsies, for our first stop of the night. The ambiance was defiantly different compared to the other famous cocktail bars we visited in Barcelona, in terms of branding and aesthetics, but the drinks were delicious. After The Clumsies, we made our way to #20, Baby au Rum, for another round of famous drinks. Baby au Rum was more clear on branding but drinks-wise I’d have to say The Clumsies was better.
We found a yummy nearby restaurant for dinner and afterward walked back to our hostel to get ready for bed and more exploration tomorrow.
