After a gathering our belongings and saying a quick goodbye to our attic airbnb, in Florence we were off on the road agin.
Travel Day #568203
After what has felt like three years out of the country, we are superstar travelers—never without our trusty travel-flower crowns. We got breakfast at a cafe that offered us free croissants and the largest (soup bowl sized) coffees…in fact, our waiter when he asked us what size we wanted, looked greatly concerned when we responded with, “large, please.” After a little eyebrow raise and an, “are you sure?” he hesitatly wrote down our order. Little did he know that he was dealing with coffee professionals talking to Jill and Viv…with soup sized mugs.
After breakfast, we headed over to the Florence train station extra early to make sure we successfully got to our next airbnb in Rome on time. We checked out the book store at the train station and Viv got her eyebrows done at the Sephora in the station, and even after that we still had plenty of time before our train came in.

After arriving in Rome, we used our savvy travel skills to make quick decisions about an extra 20-minute train we needed to jump on to get as close as possible to our Airbnb. Our airbnb was about a two minute walk from the train station, and by the time we arrived we were drenched in sweat from the Summer heat. Summer 2022 has been a crazy, crazy hot…but that’s global warming, baby :(
Around 2pm, we met our Rome airbnb host who showed us around our beautiful Rome airbnb which had a hugeeee balcony outside with an unreal view of the Vatican City. After settling in a bit and getting a little AC in us, Viv and Jill walked over to a local grocery store to grab some ingredients for dinner. Coning back, Jill tried to open the front gate when all the sudden... the key broke in half!!! Another European lock fanasco to add to our list...craziness. After laughing it off, Viv whipped up some incredible lemonade and Jill made us the most delicious tomato and bread snack.
“ ...the three of us gathered in the kitchen to put our homemade pasta skills to the test. "
A Magical Night in the Vatican City
Of course, our private balcony wouldn’t be properly broken in without a large dance party that didn’t end until the sun set. We talked, giggled, and Viv led us in some rooftop yoga—which was so lovely.
After Viv lightly died the ends of Jill’s hair with some remaining red dye, the three of us gathered in the kitchen to put our homemade pasta skills to the test. Viv was on pasta duty, Jill was on making the filling for the ravioli, and I was on sauce. A team made in heaven, we worked together efficiently to create an extremely delicious meal. It was also super exciting to make the ravioli we learned how to create only a few days prior when we were in Florence.

We got settled into bed after cleaning up from dinner, and got pumped for an incredible day planned for tomorrow, exploring the city of Rome.
